NICK VALLENCE
Nick enters his fourth season as Junior Coordinator and continues to go from strength to strength. His ability to connect with both players and parents is one of his standout qualities, and his presence is felt across all levels of the junior program.
A proud and active member of the Montrose community, Nick has children involved in local cricket, football, basketball, and is closely connected to Montrose Primary School. His deep roots in the area make him the perfect person to lead our junior program with genuine passion and purpose.
Nick’s enthusiasm aligns perfectly with the club’s long-term vision and junior pathways. His commitment to Montrose Cricket Club is unwavering — he lives and breathes it. Speak to Nick for five minutes about cricket and you’ll probably end up registering your child on the spot!

Introducing our NEW Junior Director of Coaching & Development CONNOR SMITH
We’re excited to welcome Connor Smith as our Junior Professional Coach for the 2025/26 season. Connor will take a lead role in managing the overall junior program, working closely with our team coaches to support training structure and skill development across all age groups.
On scheduled training night (Wednesday), Connor will also run focused small-group sessions outside of standard team drills, providing targeted skill development to help our young players grow in confidence and ability. His role is designed to strengthen both player progression and coach support across the program.
Originally from Bournemouth, England, Connor is returning to Australia to take on this key position within the Montrose Cricket Club. His background brings international perspective and expertise to our junior ranks.

UNDER 16 COACHES
OSCAR McCALLUM
Oscar enters his third season as a junior coach in 2025/26, continuing to make a strong impact on the Montrose Cricket Club pathway. A current First XI player and member of the senior leadership group, Oscar brings a modern playing perspective and genuine enthusiasm to the junior space.
He is passionate about helping young players develop their skills and take the next steps in their cricket journey, continuing Montrose’s proud tradition of transitioning juniors into senior cricket. Oscar’s commitment to the growth of our junior program is unwavering, and he’s excited about what lies ahead for the group this coming season.
Leigh Marshall
Leigh will continue in his coaching role this season, stepping up to lead our Under 16s after guiding the Under 14s last year alongside his son, Heath. Leigh brings a wealth of experience to the group, having played 292 senior matches and taken 382 wickets — the second most wickets in Montrose Cricket Club history.
His deep knowledge of the game, steady leadership, and commitment to junior development make him an outstanding coach for our young cricketers. Leigh’s long-standing dedication and genuine passion for nurturing the next generation is a true credit to him, and we’re incredibly fortunate to have him continuing his journey with the club in this important role.
